Your normal routine will be disrupted. The SABATELLO team does their utmost to make the experience as pleasant as possible, but it is pretty hard to have workers in or around your home and still function your daily patterns.
Dust: No matter how well we seal off the work area, some dust is going to get through. We pay an incredible amount of attention to the construction of containment barriers around the work area in order to avoid dust infiltration to areas that are not directly involved in the project. We do our best but dust still manages to infiltrate adjacent areas. It is impossible to avoid.
Budget extra money for rest and relaxation: There are good days and there are frustrating days while in the midst of remodeling. Plan to take a few day trips and get away from the disruption that is taking place in your home. You will be amazed at how much a few days away will help to rejuvenate your level of patience.
Planning Tips: A major home renovation can be a wonderful, life changing experience. At the same time, when the job is done poorly, it can also be extremely stressful for the Owner.
SABATELLO knows that keeping the lines of communication open during the entire project is just as crucial as the initial conveyance of your goals and objectives for the final outcome. Keeping the contractor aware of the family schedule, whether or not children or pets reside in the home are extremely helpful to ensure everyone’s safety.
A little extra dust and dirt are to be expected, but keeping work areas off limits as much as possible from the living areas will help to reduce the impact.
SABATELLO makes every effort to ensure your experience is pleasant, comfortable and as rewarding as possible. For us, the quality of the experience is just as important as the quality of the final product…. And that is saying a lot.
By offering integrated design and build services, personalized attention and recognition that remodeling is not as pain-free as new home construction, we have developed a process that minimizes the stress and maximizes the reward.
Concerns: Even the savviest homeowner will flinch when someone they barely know starts tearing apart the walls in their home. It is your home after all… Homeowners have many common fears and we believe that our team can help you relax and maybe even enjoy the process.
It is only natural that homeowners have concerns and reservations as they begin a major home remodeling project. For most people, it is a big, unknown experience with a significant financial investment. People come to us with their different sets of fears and concerns. Feelings from prior remodeling experiences gone badly, whether stemming from an unethical contractor, poor quality work, project delays, scheduling problems or poor communication. Sometimes it is simply not understanding how they can live amidst a construction zone while their home is being remodeled. Either way, remodeling projects can leave homeowners hesitant to remodel again.
Overcoming Concerns: SABATELLO is well aware of the difficulty, frustration and disappointment that poorly managed projects create for the homeowners. That is why we demand high professional standards, high-level project management and impeccable craftsmanship from our staff. Add to those ideals, a company culture that puts our clients and their homes at the center of our focus. We are proud to deliver remodeling experiences that our clients appreciate and remember fondly.
Embracing Change: People grow and their lives change, there is no way around that. Often remodeling projects arise from these life changes. A thoughtful renovation takes into account the people living in the home as well as visitors.
As children become teenagers, families benefit from larger more comfortable gathering areas, increased storage space, a better traffic flow through the home and more privacy.
The needs of individuals can also change in midstream. A telecommunication position requires a new home office; an elevated interest in cooking leads to an upgraded Kitchen or starting a family requires a nursery.
When young adults begin to leave home, parental needs change once again. A Library or Wine Cellar becomes more useful than an extra Bedroom. A larger Master Bedroom and Bathroom may be just the right change.
As older adults age into retirement, issues related to safety and physical mobility can be addressed gracefully with aesthetically pleasing universal design and accessibility techniques.

Timeless Design is Possible: People change over time and so do architectural styles, which may cause other problems. While a decade-old design, such as faux finishes, were at one time “all the rave”, it is often a thorn in the side for many Homeowners today.
Living in an outdated home can cause frustration and people often feel like they are living in the past, often far and out of sync with today’s styles. Older homes lack many modern conveniences, energy efficient design features and appliances as well as functional aesthetics. The SABATELLO design team knows how to breathe rejuvenating life back into older homes, while staying true to the architectural integrity of the original home. We can also change the original style of the home to match your new tastes.
Our team has extensive experience in updating older homes to meet today’s higher standards for quality and comfort. Sometimes that means opening up rooms for increased space and light. Other times, it means replacing of fixtures and other finishes with more stylish, yet timeless products.
You should prepare a remodeling budget: A remodeling budget will depend on the size and scope of your project. The materials chosen, the size of the room and the age of the infrastructure can all impact the project cost. Remember when you are comparing a SABATELLO proposal and price to others, that you should confirm that you are comparing the exact scope of work from each contractor. If a price comes in that looks too good to be true, it probably is.
What should you expect once the remodeling project has been completed: There are both normal changes and occurrences to products that will take place, as well as general homeowner maintenance that will need to occur once your remodeling project has been completed.
Concrete: Concrete continues to cure/dry for long periods of time. As this process continues, concrete will crack. Control joints are placed in the concrete in an attempt to direct the cracking in a visually pleasing way.
Plumbing: The water supply and waste piping should not leak. Faucets will require maintenance to provide drip-free operation. It is reasonable to need to replace a faucet washer every once in a while. Porcelain surfaces on plumbing fixtures will chip when hard objects are dropped on them. Grout around tubs/showers will eventually shrink and crack and will need to be replaced.
Stucco: Stucco continues to cure/dry for a period of time and is a solid/rigid surface on a moveable object (your home). Stucco has potential to crack, especially at doors and windows.
Doors & Windows: These should close and latch with a reasonable amount of effort expended by the user. Wooden units will change size as the seasons change. Wet weather makes wood expand, dry weather makes wood shrink. This might affect the units operation.
In General: All finishes and fittings require regular care, cleaning and maintenance to remain in good shape. Without such care, finishes and fittings may deteriorate and/or fail. Normal wear and tear will occur regardless of any precautions to prevent it from occurring. Every attempt will be made to match existing materials when necessary, such as roofing, stucco, paint color, finishes, but there will be variations between the existing and the new.
